Mando is Back!

I think it is safe to say we have all waited patiently for THE MANDALORIAN to return to our streaming devices!

With March 2023 comes the season three premiere of Disney Plus' hit series THE MANDALORIAN. Now, we did see our favorite Mandalorian in the series BOOK OF BOBA FETT, but Mando's season two came to an end back in December of 2020. So, we've waited over two years for this series to return. For me, this episode was a great start for the new season and well worth the wait (that might just be the STAR WARS REBELS fan inside me talk *wink wink*).

You are now entering a Spoiler Zone:

So, this episode was directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Jon Favreau. Let me tell you something! Rick Famuyiwa has directed some of my favorite episodes from this series. When are we going to give this man a live-action Star Wars blockbuster to direct for the big screen!!?

Lucasfilm, get this man a film to direct! If you are wanting to watch Rick's episodes of THE MANDALORIAN, watch Chapters 2, 6, 15, and of course the season three premiere. Put some respect on my boy's name! As a matter of fact, someone schedule a meeting with Kathleen Kennedy and myself so we can discuss who I'd like to see direct a Star Wars film.

Look, I know you aren't here to read me fanboy over Rick Famuyiwa so let me get back to the topic at hand.

This episode starts off with some Mando action, which I feel is Lucasfilm basically saying, "You all waited two years for this so here you go!" I'll gladly accept that.

What can I say? I'm a simple man. I see a group of Mandalorian warriors in action and I get excited, like a little kid all over again.

I'm not here to tell you whether you should like this or not, that's not my thing, but if you are a fan of the television series STAR WARS REBELS, there is a scene that I know you will absolutely love (as I did). Seeing the purrgil flying through hyperspace was a visual suprise I didn't know I needed in my life.

I can't lie, that little gem was my favorite part of this episode. I'm a sucker for the small things. Now the long wait begings for next Wednesday.

Last thing I want to mention is that we finally got to see the planet Kalevala, which is located in the Mandalore system. It is the home world of Satine Kryze, from STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.

Located on the planet Kalevala, is the castle of House Kyze, which we also get to see on screen for the first time.

I always get major Game of Thrones vibes when I think of Mandalorian culture with their "Lord and Lady" titles, the clans who serve as vassals to the Houses, and the Mandalorian Protectors who are basically the Kingsguard/Queensguard.

Dislikes from Chapter 17:

Thirty eight minute run time! Ugh!!! But I'll live. Not a big deal.

Honorable Mentions:

Can we talk about Greef Karga's drip? That boy fresh on the come up.

Did you enjoy The Mandalorian - Chapter 17?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I haven't watched it, yet.
