In today's Guru 10, I will share with you my current ten favorite John Williams scores from Star Wars Episodic films. This list isn't a ranking and will cover the scores from STAR WARS EPISODES I-VIII.
1. Victory Celebration (Return of the Jedi)
I absolutely love the Special Editions, and "Victory Celebration" is one of my favorite changes to Episode VI. This song is festive and makes a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart, unless you're a Sith.
2. Grievous Speaks to Lord Sidious (Revenge of the Sith)
One of my favorite scores, from the best Star Wars film, is the track playing when Grievous lands on Utapau and speaks with Darth Sidious. The song is menacing and fits a character such as General Grievous. Yes, the end of the war is near.
3. Augie's Great Municipal Band (The Phantom Menace)
The ending of EPISODE I is a happy one for the people of Naboo and the Gungans. A new found friendship among the two species, this song perfectly captures the happiness both sides share in their new relationship.
4. Rey's Theme (The Force Awakens)
"Rey's Theme" is probably my favorite from the EPISODE VII soundtrack. "Rey's Theme" is magic to my ears, and I've even learned to play a little bit of it on the keyboard. I'm not really good, though.
5. Battle of the Heroes (Revenge of the Sith)
Do I really have to explain why this song is on this list? The emotions you are feeling after hearing this song will pass, just give it time and let the feels run their course.
6. March of the Resistance (The Force Awakens)
I find this song to be very exciting and full of action. Driving to work? You had better believe this song is probably on my playlist. Seeing those X-wings flying over the water in EPISODE VII and hearing this song, I know you had chills, as well.
7. Torn Apart (The Force Awakens)
I've just realized that this is the third track from EPISODE VII to make this list. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. I feel this song does a great job at making you feel the struggle Kylo Ren is having between the dark side and the light.
8. Across the Stars (Attack of the Clones)
This is probably my favorite score from John Williams. I'm a sucker for love. This song is the embodiment of love and tragedy. You're crying now, and it's okay.
9. Duel of the Fates (The Phantom Menace)
A prequel classic. "Duel of the Fates" is arguably one of the most notable scores from Star Wars. Plus, it just makes you think of Darth Maul.
10. Love Pledge and the Arena (Attack of the Clones)
This score is everything Star Wars music should be! There perfect blend of love, passion, and action thrilled adventure mixed into one musical masterpiece. John Williams is truly a genius.
